Copal wird von aztekisch Copalli oder Cocopaltic abgeleitet. Die Mayas nennen das Harz Pom, was ''Gehirn des Himmels'' bedeutet. Es war ihr wichtigster Räucherstoff für alle religiösen, magischen und medizinischen Zwecke.
Anwendung:
Copal kann sehr gut allein verräuchert werden. Es eignet sich aber auch hervorragend für Mischungen mit beliebig anderem Räucherwerk.
